Conventional radiators
only radiate 15% of their
heat output, the rest is
convected to the top of
the room. Underfloor
heating is much better.
The pipes are laid on top of insulating heat reflective board between
evenly spaced batons. The next step is to professionally lay floor
boards on the batons. Solid wood boards are not suitable, engineered
boards (with a veneer of choice, in this case European Oak), are
suitable and give a beautiful finish. If Carpets are required, good
quality chip board and an underlay can be used.
The heating is balanced
and supplied from a
manifold (left), and
concealed with attractive
boxwork (right), or
alternatively in a
cupboard, loft space etc.
